HOLIDAY BABY GIFT GUIDE
It's officially that time to start shopping for the holidays! Today's gift guide is for your favorite little babe (0-12 months).
While pregnant with Amelia, I did A LOT of reading. I read about everything (that's not an exaggeration) and did research on the best of the best for babies. I learned an incredible amount about baby development, toy manufacturing, and the effects of new technology on our babies.
In our modern day, we have filled our lives with things, especially in our kid's lives. As parents (or loved ones), we want to give our kids EVERYTHING. However, this can have a negative effect on them as their creativity diminishes and stress levels rise. Just like adults, when there is clutter, kids become overwhelmed too. And when they have so many toys, they tend to play with each toy for ten minutes and then move on to the next best thing. When toys are limited, kids are forced to have an imagination and they will play for hours. I mean, come on, a lot of kids like the cardboard box the toy came in over the actual toy. I believe it's because they can turn that cardboard box into anything they dream. And in most cases, simpler is better.
I also found that almost all toys are produced in China or another country to cut prices down. These plastic toys have been found to have come in contact with lead and/or other dangerous chemicals that we definitely DO NOT want around our precious babies. Kids love to put things in their mouths which terrifies me to think they would be digesting chemicals as they play. So just because a toy is cheap and cute does not mean we should get it for our kids. This is where my obsession for wooden and fair trade toys came about. Wooden toys are classics. They are all natural (most are) and safe. Same for fair trade toys. They are typically made by an artisan and support those in need. Now, who wouldn't want safe and ethically sound toys?!
Cuddle + Kind have the most darling hand-knit dolls and with every doll, they provide 10 meals to kids in need. WIN. WIN.
Perfect for your baby's development and oh so cute with modern and dainty flowers. Also, it's slim so it can fit anywhere in your house, unlike those clunky plastic gyms.
This is by far my favorite gift. This charming dollhouse requires nothing but imagination for your littles. Though it's fairly pricey, my hope is that this will be passed down from generation to generation which makes it 100% worth it.
I love how adorable this wooden pup is. Seriously. So cute. Enough said.
This toy will last them years. As a baby/toddler, the rainbow tunnel will help build hand-eye coordination. And then when they get older, it becomes whatever they can imagine.
Made from 100% certified organic Egyptian Cotton, the Snuggle Sheep is super soft, cozy, and comforting during bedtime.
I love this for older infants and toddlers as it's not too tall that I'm nervous they will fall off and hurt themselves. Especially for those kiddos that can really get these rockers moving!
This adorable rattle from The Little Market is fair trade and supports Pebble artisans in Bangladesh. Not to mention, it's safe for babies to put in their mouths.
What's more classic than wooden ABC blocks? These maple wood blocks are engraved with cute letters and their corresponding animals. Perfect for learning the alphabet!
This is such a sweet little gift for your babe and is sure to become their new best friend. It will go perfectly with Amelia's flamingo-themed nursery!
